The Programs
The Department of Journalism and Media Studies of Central Women's University has started its operation in January 2016. We have both undergraduate and graduate programs. The undergraduate program is a four year-program. The students are required to complete three trimesters (each trimester is of four months' duration) in an academic year. We offer Journalism and Media Studies program exclusively for empowering women in media.

Our Curriculum
We are dedicated to educating journalists and professional communicators who can report and interpret news and information with skills, responsibility and social consciousness, grounded in both local and global contexts. We embrace the world of digital communication, where everyone is both a consumer and producer of content. Our coursework encompasses theory, law and ethics alongside visual communication, technology studies and community engagement. CWU has introduced this new department to open a new horizon for the prospective women journalists in Bangladesh.

Job and Internship Opportunities at the Deepto TV
One of the most notable features of the department is that the students get hands-on experience and professional skills at the Deepto TV – a premier private television channel of Bangladesh. The basics of cinematography, video editing, television news production and other related courses are facilitated by Deepto TV studio resources and professionals. In addition to internship opportunities, Deepto TV also offers jobs to Journalism and Media Studies graduates and students of the Central Women's University.

Career Counseling
Apart from developing careers in media, Journalism and Media Studies students can pursue their career in other professions also. This multidisciplinary program is designed in a way so that after completion the students can join the civil service, banking, NGOs, UN bodies, multinational organizations and other job sectors. The teachers of the department have strong networking at home and abroad and career counseling is an important part of the curriculum of the university.
