Exploring the Art of Cyanotype: Seeing Beyond the Surface

Exploring the Art of Cyanotype: Seeing Beyond the Surface

Students of Journalism and Media Studies at Central Women’s University delved into Beyond First Impressions: Revealing the Layers with Cyanotype, an interactive masterclass led by UK-based photographer and educator Simone Rudolphi. The session offered a hands-on exploration of creating photographs without a camera, using sunlight and light-sensitive chemicals to capture images on paper. Students had the opportunity to produce their own unique cyanotype works, discovering the creative possibilities of this alternative photographic process. The workshop was a joint initiative of Central Women’s University and Drik Trust, organised by the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, CWU. Saydia Gulrukh (Journalist, New Age; Director, Drik Picture Library) and Samia Rahaman Preema (Researcher, Drik) were also present during the programme. The programme was coordinated by Kazi Nafia Rahman and facilitated by Asrafun Naher, both Lecturers at the Department of Journalism and Media Studies, CWU.
